Efficient administration is imperative for smooth working of public affairs and appropriate execution of resources in a city. The overall administration of Parwanoo is looked after by the Municipal Council. Besides this, there are other administrative bodies in Parwanoo who have their own well defined roles for proper governance. Parwanoo Municipal Council

It is the primary civic governing body in Parwanoo that is responsible for overall development of the city. The Chairman, Dr. Daisy Thakur is the chief head of the council. She is assisted by the Executive Officer and several Councilors. The present Executive Officer of the Parwanoo Municipal Council is Mr. P S Chaudhary. The Councilors are allotted with different functioning areas or city wards. They perform several functions. A few important functions are stated below:

• Construction and repair of drains, tanks, latrines and urinals.
• Repair and construction of bridges, public streets and roads.
• Maintenance of gardens, parks and playgrounds.
• Establishment and maintenance of dispensaries, hospitals, poor-houses, schools, rest houses, sarais and markets.

Sub-Divisional Town Planning of Parwanoo

With more and more industries being set up in Parwanoo, the city has become urbanized. The Town Planning department plays a vital role in establishing residential sectors. This department works under the jurisdiction of Himachal Pradesh Housing and Urban Development Authority (HIMUDA). The Assistant Town Planner is the officer in charge of town planning in Parwanoo. Well-planned housing colonies are being established on the Kalka Shimla National Highway (NH 22) in Sector-6. These include 13 residential flats with children’s park and a shopping center.

Parwanoo City Police

The PSP or the Parwanoo City Police is the chief imposer of law and order in the city. It functions under the command of the Himachal Pradesh State Police. With a strong network of mobile patrols, traffic patrols and foot patrols, the Parwanoo Police is headed by the Superintendent of Police. Mr. Rakesh Kumar is the SP of Parwanoo. Other chief officials of the police department are Police Inspector, Sub Inspector, Head Constables and Constables. They are assisted by clerks and peons.

Courts of Law in Parwanoo

The people of Parwanoo seek justice in the various courts of law. All types of disputes varying from land disputes to theft and criminal cases are settled in the law courts. The Chief Judge is the head of the civil justice administration. He is assisted by the Additional Chief Judge. The Sessions Judge presides over the session court. Additional Session Judge and Assistant Session Judge lie subordinate to him. Apart from the session court, the city also has a consumer court and an industrial court.
